What are your holiday hours?

The zoo opens at 12:00 PM for daytime visits, giving you time to explore and see the animals. Zoo Lights begins at 4:00 PM, and you will not need to exit and re-enter. Enjoy the best of both experiences in one visit! Last entry is at 8:00 PM, and the zoo closes at 9:00 PM.

Do I need a special ticket for Zoo Lights?

Yes, you will need to purchase Zoo Lights specific tickets, but Membership passes are as normal. There is no set date or time for entry, so if your plans change, you’re welcome to visit on another day during Zoo Lights, from November 22nd, 2025 - January 10th, 2026 (Excludes December 25). Members can enjoy Zoo Lights as many days as they like during the event.

Do I need to book in advance?

We recommend purchasing your tickets online so you can head straight through the turnstiles and scan your ticket for entry, skipping the line. Tickets will also be available for purchase onsite throughout the event.

What should I wear?

This is a rain or shine event, so be sure to dress for the weather! Warm layers, rain gear, and comfortable shoes are recommended. Hats, gloves, and scarves are a great idea for chilly evenings, and don’t forget waterproof boots if it’s wet outside.

What is your weather policy?

Zoo Lights is a rain or shine event. We recommend driving carefully or staying home if conditions are unsafe. If the zoo must close due to extreme weather, updates will be posted on our website and social media channels.

*The Arctic Express train may be out of operation due to snow and ice.

Are tickets refundable or transferable?

Zoo Lights tickets are non-refundable, but they are flexible. You can use your ticket any day during the event (November 22nd, 2025 - January 10th, 2026. Excludes December 25) that works for you.


Will I be able to see the animals?

The zoo is open from 12:00 PM, so you can explore and see the animals during the day before Zoo Lights begins at 4:00 PM.

Is Zoo Lights suitable for all ages?

Zoo Lights is a magical holiday experience designed for everyone. Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or on your own, guests of all ages are welcome to enjoy the lights, festive displays, and seasonal fun.

Is Zoo Lights indoors or outdoors?

Zoo Lights is primarily an outdoor event, but there are a few indoor areas including the Arctic Research Centre, Santa Photos, Gift Shop, Holiday Marketplace, and the indoor seating area at Oasis Kitchen.

How long can we stay?

The zoo opens at 12:00 PM, and guests are welcome to explore and enjoy Zoo Lights at their own pace until 9:00 PM. Take your time experiencing the animals, festive displays, and dazzling lights throughout the evening.

Is Zoo Lights wheelchair accessible?

Yes! The event is wheelchair accessible, including access to the Arctic Express train and washrooms. For photos with Santa, the dome entryway has a width of 38". Standard wheelchairs are available to rent from Guest Services. Please reach out if you require more information regarding accessibility for Zoo Lights.

Is there parking on-site?

Yes, we have a parking lot on-site. Parking is $8 for the day, and you can pay online, or onsite by scanning the QR codes or visiting the ticket booths.

Will food be available during the event?

Yes! Our Oasis Kitchen will be open with a full menu including burgers, poutine, and more. You’ll also find four Sip & Snack Huts serving warm drinks and seasonal treats around the zoo.

Is the gift shop open during Zoo Lights?

Yes! Our gift shop is open throughout Zoo Lights. Pick up cozy winter essentials like socks, hats, mittens, and sweaters to stay warm. You’ll also find animal plushies and light-up themed wings for kids, perfect for adding an extra sparkle to your Zoo Lights experience.

Can I take photos?

Absolutely! We encourage photos and videos. Share your favourite moments and tag us on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok using #GVZooLights.


Are alcohol, smoking, or vaping allowed?

Zoo Lights is a smoke-free, vape-free, and alcohol-free environment. Please help us keep the event safe and enjoyable for all guests.

Can I bring my pet?

Pets are not allowed on zoo grounds. Please reach out in advance, minimum of 24 hours, for more information about service animals.

Is re-entry allowed?

Re-entry is allowed within the date of your visit. Guests who wish to re-enter can have their hand stamped at Grizzly Gifts or Guest Services before leaving. 

What if I can’t make the event?

Your tickets can be used any day or time from November 22nd, 2025 - January 10th, 2026 (Excludes December 25).

Can I bring my own food or drinks?

Outside food and drinks are not allowed, but we have multiple Sip & Snack huts and the Oasis Kitchen with full menu items available.

What if I lose something during the event?

Items found at Zoo Lights are turned in at the Guest Services desk. Guests should contact us as soon as possible to recover lost belongings. The zoo is not responsible for lost or stolen goods.

Where can I ask for help during the event?

Guest Services is located near the main entrance, and staff are happy to assist with directions, tickets, or any other questions you may have.
