TRAVEL BACK 65 MILLION YEARS AND WALK WITH DINOSAURS

Introducing GVZoo's NEW Meosozoic Adventure!

Journey back in time to when giants roamed, and walk with the dinosaurs in BC's only outdoor animatronic dinosaur adventure! With dinosaurs from all 3 Mesozoic periods (Triassic, Jurassic & Cretaceous). The Mesozoic Era was about 180 million years long and is known as the Age of Reptiles.

So come MOVE, ROAR & STOMP around with our Dinosaurs! Open Year-Round.

Due to colder weather, our dinosaurs are currently less active in the winter. Although you won't hear any roaring, please enjoy a look at our Mesozoic Adventure as it is frozen in time. Our Dino Keepers expect them to be back to regular activity levels by Family Day weekend.

TRIASSIC

The Triassic Period started with much of Pangea, the supercontinent, still intact. The dominant animals were reptiles, but not the dinosaurs, as they were outcompeted by other ancient reptiles like crocodilian ancestors. The Triassic Period ended with a mass extinction caused by Pangea breaking apart, resulting in volcanic activity, global climate change, and dinosaurs coming out on top.

During the Jurassic, the land was constantly splitting in two, slowly separating and resulting in more coastline for forests and diversification. The Age of Dinosaurs begins here and we see a rapid diversification of dinosaurs from the stegosaurs to theropods (the two-legged meat eaters). We even see the first birds start to evolve around this time as well as very small mammals hiding in the underbrush.

JURASSIC

CRETACEOUS

The Cretaceous Period starts when the continents had fully split, and from this point on the continents we know today start to take shape and separate from each other. Because of the range of climates and environments available, the diversity only increases, with flowering plants, insects, a variety of plant life having evolved. The Cretaceous Period ended when a 70km wide asteroid struck in the Gulf of Mexico, ejecting enough debris into the atmosphere to block out half of all sunlight and alter the temperature of the earth, resulting in a global ecosystem collapse from the bottom up.
