Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2022

Dear guests of The Greater Vancouver Zoo.

On September 30th for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, we encourage all staff and guests that plan on visiting our facility to come dressed in orange shirts to help raise awareness of the very tragic legacy of residential schools, and to honour the thousands of Survivors. Additionally, all those who arrive at our facility with status cards will receive free admission on the day of September 30th. 2022.

Mental health supports are available.

Former Residential School students can call 1-866-925-4419 for emotional crisis referral services and information on other health supports from the Government of Canada.

Indigenous peoples across Canada and others affected can also go to The Hope for Wellness Help Line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for counseling and crisis intervention.

Call the toll-free Help Line at 1-855-242-3310
