guest speaker Luke Hunter the President of Panthera! Panthera is a large
wild cat conservation organization and Gvzoo has been supporting their
efforts to save the Iranian Cheetah since 2011 through our Quarters for
Conservation program. Come learn about the Iranian Cheetah Project -
protecting the last 50 Asiatic cheetahs in the world.

Family photos with one of our beautiful Reindeer!
This is an enrichment activity for the Reindeer.
Enrichment provides mental and physical stimulation through various activities.
This also reduces stress on the animal while providing enrichment through positive reinforcement.
How it works:
Everyday at 12:45pm a shuttle bus will transport you to the Reindeer enclosure.
An Elf will bring one of the Reindeer out for you and your family will pose for a quick photo next to the Reindeer.
Cost: It will cost $20 for the photos. (The photos will be held on a USB for pick up within an hour or for pick up next day)
If you wish to explore the zoo Admission will be a separate fee.
Photos are only to be taken by a Greater Vancouver Zoo photographer.

REMEMBRANCE DAY - NOVEMBER 11th
On Friday November 11th all Veterans will
receive free admission to the zoo. Don't forget to get your Poppy
in support of our Canadian Veterans! Poppies are available at our front
admissions by donation for the Royal Canadian Legion!

environment: learn more about the importance of reducing waste while

Looking for some Spook-tacular Fun well come join us for our BOO AT THE ZOO celebration with a Haunted House in the Animalasium (October 29th -30th) from 10 am – 4pm and (October 31st) from 10 am - 2pm. included with your admission. This is a merry not too scary event.
Fun-filled Costume Contest Parade (October 29th – 30th) at 1pm – children aged 12 years and under that are fully dressed in a costume and participate in the parade, get free admission into the zoo when accompanied by an adult paying regular admission! 3 Awesome prizes!
And for some evening fun – October 28th – 30th come join us for our 1st Spooky Night Walking Safari at 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Try and come early as tours will be starting on time. Price of admission (**) for this tour is separate from daily admission and are as follows:

The Greater Vancouver Zoo has always been a unique resource for educators of all grade levels, from Pre-School to University students. Now with the introduction of the new British Columbia curriculum, even more opportunities are available here. The new curriculum is about providing a greater connection to learning, and we have many resources to assist educators in meeting those learning outcomes at our facility or by having us come to you with our outreach options.

Rhinoceros are the largest mammal after the elephant and rank among the most endangered species in the world! The biggest threat to Rhino’s is poaching and is pushing them to extinction. Please come by the Info Booth from 11 am – 2pm and learn how you can help save these amazing animals!

This is a special evening for you and your family to experience sleeping overnight at the Zoo in the picnic area - next to the night animals!
Once night falls, our guides and volunteers will accompany you on a walking safari throughout the zoo so you can observe and learn about our animals at dusk. Later on we will have a campfire while enjoying some hot chocolate and marshmallows while we tell stories, play games and/or sing songs (guitars are welcome)! During the night you will hear the lions roaring, wolves howling and a few feathered friends will make sure you are awake in the morning! This is camping in your own tents!
Speaking of morning, we will serve you a light breakfast, then you get a chance to meet a Zookeeper and learn about an animal plus enjoy a narrated train ride around the perimeter of the Zoo.

Arts for Youth) this year. P.L.A.Y. is a non-profit organization aimed
to provide children and families with professional and affordable arts
programs. Meet 10 of these talented young performers and get to know a
little bit more about this wonderful community program.

There will also be a raffle for a lovely basket (plush giraffe, frame photo of our own Pompey, Giraffe statue, Giraffe cozy) at the information booth. 50% of the proceeds will go towards West African Giraffe Conservation and 50% to the GVZOO Volunteer Enrichment fund.

HAPPY DAY FOR TURTLES!! Come discover the wonderful world of turtles and in particular our conservation efforts to help save the endangered Western Painted Turtle.
The Western Painted Turtle (Chrysemys picta bellii) is the only remaining native pond turtle left in B.C and has a wide distribution in western North America. In British Columbia, there are two populations of the Western Painted Turtle: the Intermountain - Rocky Mountain Population in the southern interior and Pacific Coast Population in the southwest.
