15th YEAR ZOO HOSTS ANOTHER SPECIAL DAY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES!
Aldergrove – It was a perfect day to host our annual fun-filled ACCESS DAY at the Greater Vancouver Zoo!
In our 15th year of hosting a day to welcome people with disabilities to visit the zoo at an extremely discounted price into the Zoo. We hear it all the time with cut-backs in budgets and limited funding the Greater Vancouver Zoo always has a place in their heart and wants to help where we can for people with disabilities. Over 1,700 people participated during the day with such groups as the: Community Ventures Society, Fraser Valley Brain Injury, Meadowview Manor, MSA Society for Community Living, Semiahmoo House and many more.
The most common comment we kept hearing throughout the day from other Zoo guests, was “it’s wonderful what you are doing in the community!” Attendants taking part in Access Day also noted “how wonderful and highly organized the yearly event is”.
We’re thankful to all the devoted zoo staff and volunteers that came out to ensure an enjoyable day at the Zoo was had by all attendees. Guests were greeted with warm smiles and some very cool animal stamps and coloring sheets to take home. The many interpretative talks and feedings throughout the day included: Radical Raptor Birds of Prey presentation, Lion and Tiger Feeding, Meet a Reptile, Giraffe Snack, Hippo Snack, Bears of British Columbia, and the ever popular miniature train that goes around the perimeter of the Zoo.
A very fun day for all!
